Well, we have had quite an unusually warm February! The fishing for Reds and Speckled Sea Trout has been hot! Most of my trips, we have been throwing artificials and have been quite successful! Sight Casting to them for the most part with scented artificials has created the best results. The specks have been biting both live bait and grubs as well as Mirror Lures, which is one of my favorite ways to catch them. The water has remained clear despite the wind, it is just about picking your fishing spot with that in mind. I have been using Pro Cure to put on some of the artificials and it has been very effective, even in comparison to Gulp baits, which are as about as scented as you can find on the market. With the water being so clear back up in these tidal creeks and estuaries the bait presentation is vivid, which makes for great results. The Fly, has been hot as long as you can stay out of the wind as I stated before! It has truly been some great fishing this February with great conditions, being that it is so warm and not the normal chilly February weather we are used too. I would love to talk fishing with anyone who would like to chat or book a charter, tight lines! Captain Rawling Pratt-Thomas
